Assistant Principal's Message

Hello Maryland Families and Community Members,

My name is Jaclyn Farrer and I am honored to be the newly appointed Assistant Principal at Maryland School for the 2014-2015 school year.  This is my first year in the Washington Elementary School District, and I’m thrilled to join such an amazing district with strong roots in the community.

I am an Arizona native, born and raised in Flagstaff. I received my undergraduate degree from Northern Arizona University and began my career teaching first grade and second grade in the Verde Valley.  While teaching, I earned my Master’s in Education with an emphasis in Administration and Supervision. When my family moved to Phoenix, I began serving as an Instructional Interventionist in the Cartwright School District, where I provided specialized reading interventions for students. My most recent position was serving as an Assistant Principal in the Cartwright School District for the past two years.

Such a warm welcome has been extended to me since joining the Maryland team. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many excited students and families in the front office, working with the amazing Shared Leadership team and knowledgeable school instructional coaches on campus, collaborating with the office staff and several classified team members, meeting many District employees, as well as having the pleasure of meeting several community members and school volunteers.

I look forward to learning more about the rich history and traditions of Maryland School from the students, teachers, staff members, families and community members. I strive to maintain high visibility on campus and promote high achievement for all students. I am committed to meeting the needs of our students each and every day. I look forward to meeting all of you!

Yours in learning,

Jaclyn Farrer
